J.C. Howard is a proud Oaklander, and a produces for NPR’s TED Radio Hour and How I Built This with Guy Raz. He is currently based in Washington, D.C. and has also been a contributing blogger for the NPR staple, Car Talk and an Audio Editor with 91.7FM KALW, an NPR affiliate in San Francisco, where he creates radio edits of the KALW project and Radiotopia podcast 99% Invisible. J.C. also formerly served as a General Assignment Reporter for KALW's Crosscurrents Program. Also, in case it ever comes up, he loves breakfast.
As a member of the First Voice Apprenticeship Program, which he graduated in 2016, J.C. was a producer for the cultural affairs Radio-magazine Full Circle on 94.1FM KPFA in Berkeley, California. In 2012 J.C. began hosting and Executive Producing a Podcast called Cut Down. The Cut Down Podcast was a News & Current Events available on iTunes.
J.C. also served as Social Media Manager for All Pro Wrestling (currently operating out of Daly City). His passions include storytelling (ergo the wrestling gimmick), writing, and participating in life!
Aside from career interests, J.C. holds a Master of the Arts in Communication and Leadership from Gonzaga University. He began his pursuit in 2009 and failed miserably shortly after. But like a Phoenix, J.C. rose from the ashe...wait, is that a little much? Yeah, you're probably right. He returned in 2016 and completed his degree in 2017. The full story is in the video below!
